Standard Avon 16 Sports.

Robin emailed this photo of his father stood alongside what was an unidentified vintage, or post-vintage, motor-car. He didn't know the make, and asked if I knew of anyone who could help. Some digging around, and info provided by a member of the VSCC forum, identified the car as a Standard Avon 16 Special, or Sports. It would have been built circa 1930 or 1931, and incorporated Standard running gear with bodywork built by outside coachbuilder Avon, to whom Standard supplied a variety of different chassis in the vintage era.
Quite a few pre- and post-war Standards already feature on the site (eg this page with a 1920's Standard on it, and this page with a variety of 9hp models featured), but this was the first Standard to be included that features Avon-built coachwork. It was later joined by two photos of a smaller 9 Avon Coupe, that are now shown here. Apparently the 16hp was also known as the Standard Avon "Swan". Thanks to Robin for allowing his photo to be shown here.
