Rover P2

Amongst a pile of photos I bought recently are these interesting shots, all featuring a Rover P2 Tourer in action. More pictures like this can be found on the period car photo gallery at oldclassiccar.
Rover P2 parked at the roadside
First of these two Rover photographs shows Rover reg. no. JUC 580 parked at the side of a quiet road. Fortunately, there are notes on the back of the photo, confirming that it was taken one Sunday in April 1952, at St Neots. As with a few photos in this collection I bought, a look on the MVL (DVLA) website suggests this Rover is still around in 2006, colour is green. Engine size is 1496cc. It was first registered in 1948. I'm sure the current owner would be fascinated to see these pictures!!

1954 Polar Rally

The photo below shows the same P2 in action, at a club rally. Again the photo has plenty of notes on the back ... ".. Photo taken by J. Faller-Fritsch at "Polar" Rally (Newlands ...) Jan 17th 1954. Self, Mary, Pat & Dick attended. Mary won ladies prize. Colour of car then fawn.". Written above is an address which may be that of the Rovers owner - it is Mr J R Mclaren, 18 Bazile Rd, Winchmore Hill, N21. Interestingly, a search online for Bazile Road brings up a cleaning company that is based at no.18 too!! the plot thickens. If someone knows the P2's current owner, please show them this page as I'd be very interesting in speaking to the owner of the car now, and seeing a photo of it.
