Austin Metropolitan photograph.

The Metropolitan was designed to take on the US market - a market that historically Austin and Morris had not done particularly well in (the A90 Atlantic for example had been a major flop in the States). Power came from the BMC B series engine. I'm told that the door panels could fit either side once drilled to take the handles and other fitments.

Austin Books Whether for the Metropolitan as shown below, or any other type of Austin, it is worth having a look on Amazon for books, DVDs, Videos etc.

Can you tell me any more about this Austin Metropolitan? If you're into these cars, or other types of classic Austins, and would like to see your car featured in the Your Car Stories section at oldclassiccar, by all means get in touch as I'd like to feature as many original or restored Metropolitans as possible.

All the pictures featured here were taken by myself at the August event in 2004.

I've attended this show at Tatton for many many years. You can see some of the other 79 photos I took at the August '04 show on this page.
