On the stage at Croft during the '74 RAC Rally: SAAB 96 V4
Several V4 Saabs ran in the 1974 Royal Automobile Club Rally. The blue and white example was driven by T. Rainio and K. Lehto. By the mid 70s the 96 was getting a little long in the tooth although was still fairly competitive. Attentions would switch to the injected 99 EMS and 99 Turbo in just a few years time.
I must say a big thanks to Rob Ryder who took these photos during the 1974 event, and kindly agreed to them being featured on oldclassiccar - thanks Rob! If anyone else out there has photos like the picture of a rally-prepared SAAB 96 V4 above, whether featuring rally cars or other types of motorsport events, it'd be great to feature them here like this.
