Maserati Quattro Porte.Below is an original press photo showing the rather smart V8 engined Maserati Quattro Porte, or '4 door' for the non-Italians amongst us!Back to Car & Van Photographs - Page 3. Maseratis were well known for their motor racing activities either side of WW2, culminating in one of the finest front engined GP cars of all, the 250F Maserati. Their road cars were pretty special too, most of which were very much of the sporting persuasion. The car shown here though is their offering for the sporting motorist who required a bit more practicality and interior space - namely the Quattro Porte. Their promotional blurb that accompanied this 1960s photograph went as follows .. "The Maserati Quattro Porte is a luxurious high-speed four-seat saloon. The V8, 4100cc engine, developing 298bhp, gives this car a top speed of 145 mph Price in UK, including Purchase Tax, 5,986.8s.9d. This car will be on the Maserati Stand (No.138) at the London Motor Show." Maserati, who are now owned by Ferrari at the time of writing this, launched a new Quattro Porte a few years ago, again offering a high-speed touring express, which looks rather fine and more interesting than most 4dr hot rods that are for sale today... |
