Traffic Jam at Hyde Park Corner in London, 1950s style.
Traffic jams in London are nothing new! this great photo was sent in by Les F, scanned from his own collection of old transport images. The variety of vehicles seen in this view of Hyde Park Corner is staggering - cars, vans, lorries and taxis are all visible, jostling for position.
While many of the vehicles are hard to identify, some are quite obvious. So far I've made out a Morris J Type van (in John Lewis livery), a Minor, Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, Mk1 Ford Consuls, 100E, Humber Hawk, Fordson 5cwt vans (one parked, and one driving with ladders on the roof) and at least one Austin Taxi. A dropside lorry to the left is in the livery of The Sunningdale Nurseries. Visible on its own, over to the right, is a Kew Dodge lorry.
