Daimler Light 20.

The photograph on this page features a pre-war Daimler, registration number FPH 764, which dates it to 1937 or thereabouts, and places it when new in the Surrey area. This view of the Daimler was taken in September 1946, a note on the rear tells us that the family were "... off to Devon after nanny had her appendix out. Illingworth's car!!". Who Illingworth was I've no idea, but evidently he or she had good taste in motor-cars. The car is a Daimler Light 20 cabriolet, quite a rare vehicle even at that time.
The rear-hinged front door arrangement can clearly be seen in this shot. This model of Daimler was in fact a four-door cabriolet, with both front and rear doors hinging on the central pillar. The car's hood at the time of the photo was in the raised position.

1937 Daimler Light 20 car
The Daimler Light Twenty range was introduced in July 1935, powered by a straight-six OHV engine of 2565cc coupled to a four-speed pre-selector gearbox, with fluid flywheel transmission as was a feature of Daimlers at the time. Body types included saloon, sports saloon, fixed-head coupe, and drop-head coupe.
