1941 Chevrolet Coupe.
Looking more than a little grubby in this shot, is a 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe Coupe, with a chap in uniform stood alongside it - does anyone recognise his uniform? In 1941 two similar versions of this car were produced, the Special Deluxe Coupe, and the Master Deluxe Coupe. I thought that this was an example of the latter at first, but a close look at the car reveals badges for Special Deluxe. This car has an aerial fitted to the driver's side scuttle, and directional spotlamps fitted to either screen pillar.

There are some handwritten notes on the rear of this photograph, but most of them are illegible other than a reference to the car not being clean, as it had been raining.

American cars of this era tended to be re-vamped on an annual basis, hence Chevrolets from 1940 and 1942 are noticeably different to the '41 shown above. Under the hood was a 216 cubic inch six-cylinder OHV engine, a unit that also saw service in contemporary Chevrolet trucks.
